Sierra Chivato

Sierra Chivato
31° 7' 18.372" N, 110° 32' 45.06" W

A fairly obscure Sky Island near where the Santa Cruz River makes a u-turn to head back north. This range is generally composed of a scrubby and short-statured woodland of oak and juniper with large areas of oak savannah in the lower areas. There are substantial amounts of grass and grasslands on this range.

There is a lot of marijuana growing in the more moist canyons.

Unlike many Sonoran Sky Islands, the Sierra Chivato has healthy numbers of pinyon pine (Pinus cembroides var discolor) and alligator juniper (Juniperus deppeana), many of decent size.
